Hello
A Bit About Me
I am an Instructor of Sociology and the Rector of the Humanities and Social Sciences Residential College (HSSRC) at Louisiana State University. On campus, I teach in person and online courses, mentor undergraduate research, and advise first year students majoring in fields within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In the community, I am the coleader and cofounder of a youth soccer program (est. 2015) and an ESL program (est. 2022). Through LSU's Engaged Citizen's Program, many students earn college credit by completing service hours and gaining applied experience in their major fields. My research investigates sport for development programs and mentorship in community and academic spaces as potential pathways to overcome systemic obstacles.
All of my work on campus and in the community revolves around bringing people together from different backgrounds and intentionally facilitating interconnectedness to empower them to achieve individual and collective goals. My three favorite places are the classroom, the soccer field, and the dinner table. I believe larger-scale and sustainable community change often blossoms from experiences in these micro spaces.
